My Lenovo S10e is now able to get consistent faster transfers (I have it configured for "Performance", an option that you select when you install the driver). Unless this is a rebranded eBay generic, then I'll be totally pissed, since they charge several times more than the eBay generic.UPDATED 2010-Feb-22: goto Delkin's website [.].
After speaking with Delkin several times and reloading their Windows XP drivers a few times. I was able to get it to read my Sandisk Extreme IV cards at a decent speed only a few times.
I bought this ExpressCard reader because I wanted one that would work in my Lenovo S10e (ExpressCard 34 slot) and T61 (ExpressCard 54/34 slot). It seems to be a driver issue.
Most of the time, it runs very slow. Sometimes slower than my old (several years old) USB 2.0 Belkin card reader.I really hope Delkin fixes their driver.
and download the new drivers (which I think is really an old driver) which works better. In this setting you must "safely remove" the ExpressCard before removing the CF card.
This item is a sure fire way to crash your computer by causing a Kernel panic. I think it fails because it is lose in the SXS card slot and it wiggles very easily, but I am not sure. Save your money.
Easily the worst product I've ever paid money for.Under no circumstances should you buy this device. I thought about returning it but instead decided to smash it with a hammer to help ease my anger.
At all. What's worse is that it will cause system panic crashes.
It's a shame that things can't have negative stars because if they could this would be a negative 5 star review. As many here have said this reader will cause a system panic on Macbook Pros - who knows, maybe it works on other machines but it was sold as being compatible with Macbook Pros and it's listed on their site as being compatible and it's not. This small and simple device actually destroyed a computer to the point of irreparable damage to the hard drive.
These are really bad crashes that can damage your hard drive. After a week of use the constant crashes caused serious problems on the drive and required the entire hard drive to be erased and restored.
This was by far the best choice and I only wish it was better made so that I could have hammered on it for longer. If you need speed get the LEXAR Firewire 800 CF reader which is bullet proof reliable.
I read the other reviews and the words of caution on Delkin's own website. I had no problems. Once I downloaded and installed the drive, I imported photos directly from a flashcard to iphoto. I am operating a MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.2.
updated photoshop and the driver for the express car. it still crashes my brand new macbook pro (which is up to date with snow leopard) so unless you enjoy recovering from crashes, find another way to interface with the flash cards
